Day 9.... Week two begins!

Sooo this morning I woke up at around 7am to catch the morning swell. I got up and then got ready for surfing. I walked into town with Laura and kevin. We then headed to the grocery store to grab some water for our trek. I met up with Giovanni at El Sano Banana where he made me breakfast. The usual- Whole wheat toast with marmalade.
We head on our way and it was a really hot day. The sun was beating really hard. I was glad I used my SPF 70. We got to the surf hut and just hung out while we waited for the instructors. It was cool to not be the newbie anymore. I got to lead the way on the hike and then like I didn't have to wait to be told to do something- so I just scraped and waxed my board.
I headed on out and Sara and I had Gustavo to ourselves. It was great!!!!!!!! I caught every wave I took but 2. The two I didn't catch was purely because I got too lazy to stand up. It was really nice. I learned how to turtle today which is when a wave is to big to ride over (when your paddling out).... You grab both sides of your board and flip upside down so the wave goes over top of you. It was great for the massive waves. Then once I paddled out Gustavo taught me how to be a sitting duck. The Waves were in really nice sets of three so it was easy to monitor and great to chill. The second wave in each set was always my go to. Tomorrow I'm hoping to master my paddling and timing... to catching the waves.
The only annoying thing about surfing was one of the new girls. She said she knew what she was doing but she didnt have a clue. She strayed away from the beginner group into our area... but when Gustavo tried to help her she was like "no no I know what I'm doing." She clearly didnt. We thought the board was going to smash into her head and kill her. Whats worse is that she never moved out of the way when she was paddling back in and Sara and I missed a ton of waves trying to watch out for her. It's called surfing manners! Anyway- whatever... it's her loss because she's not going to improve because of her ego, and she's not going to make friends because of her attitude. Not my problem.
On the whole people from here front- Kylie (the girl who got really drunk at the bar) has been completely MIA. She skipped zip lining, Horseback riding, Surfing this morning. I kinda want to go and ask her if she is ok and if there is anything I can do for her. She need not be embarrassed about her little night because it happens to the best of us. It is by no means a reason to not enjoy your trip. I want to let her know we don't care with out making her feel uncomfortable. It's a kind of sad situation. I'm hoping to talk to her tonight.
So then after surfing- Chris, Laura and I walked into town. Chris and I got lunch. I had the chicken salad again. It was really good and just may become a staple here. It's cheap and yummy and healthy too!
We walked back to the hotel and I desperately needed to shower- so i did. I got a chance to talk to Andrea (the director's wife). She is soooo Pretty and nice. Like she's stunningly gorgeous. She's from Argentina and can salsa like no other. I can't wait to see it. She thinks my mom's idea of shipping a camera to someone who's coming here and then having them bring it to me is FABULOUS. She's going to try and arrange it and get back to me tomorrow.
I came up stairs and gave myself a pedi. You can only look at colorless toes for so long. I feel so much better. I give it two days.
Now I'm thinking about taking a nap. I have Yoga tonight at 6:30. I'm really excited. I'm sad though because it's now too late for me to go to the movies every night this week. So Giovanni is going to miss me! I know it! I didn't come here to watch movies though- so yoga it is!
I'm off to nap- well.... eat an apple and then nap!
xo
